The Pakistan cricket team will soon be back in the UAE and it is the perfect chance for you to watch the flamboyant side show their skills at ‘home’.

The men in green have been hosting various teams in the Emirates for years now and after locking horns with the South Africans last month here, it’s the turn of Sri Lanka to be tested by Pakistan.

There is a lot of buzz around the series which is coming right after a morale-boosting tour of South Africa for the Pakistan team. After going from bad to worse in the UAE, losing the ODI series 4-1, the T20 series 2-0 and drawing the Tests 1-1 against the Proteas, Pakistan gave a good account of themselves on the return tour.

They drew the T20 series 1-1 and then went on to create history by winning the ODI series 2-1, becoming the first Asian team to do so in the African nation. All that sets up Sri Lanka’s trip to the Gulf region nicely.

They will be playing two Twenty20 games, five one-dayers and three Tests at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The tour will start with the T20 game at Dubai on December 11 and end with the third Test at Sharjah on January 16, 2014. It will be a great opportunity for Misbah-ul Haq’s team to improve upon their recent performances.

Players like opener Ahmed Shehzad and pacers Bilawal Bhatti and Anwar Ali did well against the Proteas and they would be hoping to first get a chance in the Sri Lanka series and then an opportunity to show their prowess.

As always, the likes of spinner Saeed Ajmal and captain Misbah will be expected to come up with the goods with the ball and bat respectively.

Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene will miss the limited overs leg of the series as his wife is expecting their first child but will be available for the Test series.

Veterans Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara and Lasith Malinga will be present to test the Pakistanis and delight the crowd. Fans can expect to watch the Test matches free of cost while tickets for the T20s and the one-dayers can be bought at the stadiums or online at Box Office ME and Time Out Tickets.

The weather is excellent and two highly competitive teams will battle it out for top honours in the UAE. For cricket fans in the region, it doesn’t get better than this.
