We’re lucky in this part of the world to be blessed with some stunning, scenic training locations for triathlon, such as those offered in incredible Dibba, where this coming weekend’s triathlon camp will take a fortunate few.

SuperTri Dubai have teamed up with Absolute Adventure just over in Oman to organise a three-day camp specifically geared towards triathletes hoping to fine tune their performance for the new season of racing, and one of the perks will be staying and playing in an aweinspiring environment.

Located directly on Dibba’s pristine beach with the Mussandam mountains as a backdrop for the adventure centre, join coach Trace Rogers to discover good technique in all three triathlon disciplines, and subsequently improve your times.

In this Improver session, you’ll also learn how to better manage your training, recovery, nutrition, and dive into some stretching and conditioning programmes to enable you to train consistently and therefore improve performance.

After all your hard work, the camp provides a beautiful setting to relax and socialise in the evening with fellow triathletes, some of whom are there this weekend wrapping up a Rookies Tri Camp, and absolutely loving it.

Camper Dizzy Dawson said: “It’s fantastic out here. It’s been a wonderful experience. We’ve had some great sessions, I’ve learned a lot of useful things I wish I knew earlier in other races for sure.

“Compared to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which are absolutely flat, here in our sessions I’ve used every gear on the bike for a change. Because it’s so hilly, training here is particularly great for the bike.

“I also like that the classes are small, which mean the instructor can really get at you.”

If you think you know your way around a triathlon course fairly well but want to better your campaign this season, then make sure your bags are packed for Dibba next weekend.

Rogers says: “This camp is perfectly suited to seasoned triathletes wanting to see improvement in the 2013/2014 season, the minimum requirement being that you can comfortably swim 800m, Bike 20km and run 5km.

“[Campers] will definitely be in for a great weekend and it’ll be very valuable training in this location because you’ll be able to do things you wouldn’t normally be able to in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Plus, it’s an absolutely beautiful location.”

The camp fee is Dh1,700 and includes accommodation, all meals, non-alcoholic beverages, plus all training sessions and course material provided by a qualified Triathlon Coach (ITCA). A detailed itinerary is emailed over upon registration.

The Absolute Adventure Centre, where you’ll be staying, is cool too. Built in the traditional Al Shahi style, the centre reflects a long-lost simpler way of life. The centre sleeps 14 in air-conditioned comfort with larger groups accommodated using fold-up beds or mattresses.

The centre also boasts three bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, Outdoor BBQ area, Traditional Bedouin Tent, Barasti Majlis overlooking the sea and small freshwater pool in the large courtyard. Ready for an adventure? Then be sure to sign up before this Sunday, spaces are seriously limited.
