Liverpool to make renewed bid for Bologna star Ramirez
Liverpool will follow the capture of midfielder Joe Allen with a renewed effort for Bologna winger Gaston Ramirez, according to reports in the British press.
The Reds are set to announce the signing of Allen from Swansea in a £15million deal in the next 24 hours, with boss Brendan Rodgers revealing the 22-year-old’s arrival at Anfield is “imminent.”
However, it seems Rodgers, who has also signed striker Fabio Borini from Roma since his appointment as Liverpool boss in June, is not finished with his summer transfer business.
According to a report in today’s London Evening Standard, Rodgers is keen to add one more player to his squad and is set to make a new bid for Uruguay international Ramirez having seen an initial offer rejected by Bologna.
It had been reported that the Reds had a £12.5million bid dismissed last week for Ramirez, but that has not put off Rodgers, who believes the 21-year-old can add some much needed quality to the flanks.
Ramirez’s agent put the media speculation into overdrive a few weeks ago after confriming he was in London holding talks with a “Premier League club” without revealing the identity of the club.
Tottenham have also expressed an interest in the winger, and it was thought the initial talks were being held with representatives from Spurs.
But Liverpool have retained their interest and are keen to wrap up a deal ahead of the start of the Premier League campaign next weekend.
Inter Milan are also keen on Ramirez, which may result in Bologna increasing their valuation for their star player, but they have admitted it is likely he will leave this summer.
